How do cells in interphase and the various phases of mitosis differ?

Mitosis is the process in which a cell divides to create two identical daughter cells. Review the phases of the cell cycle in the lesson entitled “Cell Division.”

Recall that interphase is the phase in which the cell is functioning normally or preparing for mitosis. Cells in interphase and in the various phases of mitosis have different visible characteristics.
