A figure is symmetrical if it can be split into two exact-equal parts that are mirror images of one another. Take a close look at the smiley-face figure below. Notice that a line can be drawn over the smiley face which splits the figure into exactly two equal pieces that are mirror images of each other. This line is known as the line of symmetry, and the figure is considered to be symmetrical.
