Matching

What is a matching activity? How can I use one in a lesson?

Goal:

Goal:

A matching activity consists of two columns of items. Students connect an item on the left [word, phrase, etc.] to its corresponding item on the right [description, definition, example, etc.]

The directions that appear above a matching activity should be specific about what the items in each column represent. For instance, “match the function on the left to its equation on the right” or “match the term on the left with its definition on the right”) The directions should also explain what skills or concepts students will learn or practice as they complete the activity.

Math Sample

Let’s see if you can put it all together. Match each quadratic function on the left with the description of its parabola on the right.

Great job!
