Peter loves birds. Today, he is watching a special show all about how birds adapt to the changing seasons. Let’s take a closer look.

Fall is here, and the birds are very busy getting ready for winter. As the days get shorter, and the nights get longer, this tells some birds that it is time to migrate south.

The birds that do not migrate in autumn are busy in other ways. They are busy eating and storing energy during this harvest season.

It is hard to find food in the winter. The growing season ends, and many birds struggle. Bird feeders like this one provide birds a regular food source.

Birds get cold just like you. To help them warm up, they puff up their feathers.

Soon, the cold snowy winter ends, and spring begins. The birds that migrated fly back. Trees and plants begin to bloom again, and the temperature gets warmer.

Birds are busy again because they have nests to build before their new babies arrive.

Summer comes, and babies grow into adults. Soon it will be autumn again, and the seasons go on and on.

Question

Which two seasons are birds the busiest?
