What are the parts of a letter?

You have been introduced to different formats for a written presentation. For your written presentation, you will demonstrate your knowledge of 5 historical figures by writing a letter to your teacher. Click on each tab below to learn about the parts you need to include in your letter.

The heading tells when the letter was written.

The greeting is who the letter is written to. It usually starts with the word Dear followed by a person’s name or title and a comma.

The body is what the letter is about.

The closing ends the letter. The words From, Sincerely, and Yours Truly are often used followed by a comma.

The signature is the letter writer’s name.
