Meet Anthony Angle. Anthony is running for class president.

As he is writing his speech, he thinks about some of our nation’s greatest leaders and how they believed that they could make a change to help people.

He thinks about our very first president, George Washington, and how he is considered the father of our country. He united the states and he led the United States Army to fight against the British and won!

Anthony remembered that some of his classmates were not getting along, so his goal if he was elected as class president was to unite the class like George Washington did with the states.

Anthony remembers Benjamin Franklin, who was also one of our nation’s greatest leaders. Ben Franklin is most famous for his science experiment with a key and a kite. He discovered electricity! He was not a president, but he did help people gain the courage to fight for freedom. He also helped to write the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution!

Anthony wanted to help his classmates and encourage them to work together to create a class constitution which would list rules that everyone would follow to make sure everyone was being fair every day in the classroom. He would get everyone to sign it too, just like the founding fathers did with the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.

Abraham Lincoln was the 16^th president of the United States. He was also one of our great leaders! He led the country to win the Civil War and he also helped to end slavery.

Anthony wanted to be a great leader just like Abraham Lincoln. He believed that he too could make a change in his classroom.
