Sewing is a great skill for children to learn because it improves their hand-eye coordination and their fine motor skills. Children will learn how to thread a needle, perform a basic stitch, and use a basic sewing pattern. These are all skills that they can use when they get older to repair items such as clothing or a stuffed animal, or even to make their own clothing someday!

The yarn and buttons or decorative gems will all be used to decorate the puppet, so they are not necessary. You could also decorate your puppet with markers, other pieces of cloth, googly eyes, or any other craft items you have.
