Choose one of the following compounds; water, salt, or sugar, each is made of either two or three elements. Use a dictionary, encyclopedia, or website and look up each element for the compound. Then do the following:

Write a description of the element including anything you learn about the element’s properties: how the element smells, what color it is, what phase (solid, liquid, or gas) it occurs in, and whether it is poisonous or not. Is it used for anything in its elemental form?b. Now describe the properties of the compound you picked. Compare the properties of the compound with the properties of the elements that comprise it. How do you explain the difference?
