In this lesson you are learning about conductors and insulators. Complete the following activity to test conductors and insulators. You will report your findings.

A light bulb connected to a battery and a copper penny.Create a simple circuit by connecting the battery to the light bulb with the two wires.

This should be a closed circuit like talked about earlier in the lesson.

You will test the following materials to see if they are conductors or insulators:

    rubberband

    penny

    nickel

    toothpick

    key

    paperclip

two more items of your choice
To complete the test disconnect the wire from one end of the batter and place the object you are testing between the batter and the wire. If the light bulb still lights up the material is a conductor. If it does not light up it is an insulator.

Download the data table and complete it as you do the experiment. Your class will have a discussion about your two "choice" objects after you are done with the activity.
