A magnet exerts magnetic force.

Cylindrical magnet showing it's magnetic field The area of space around a magnet where its force can be felt is called a magnetic field.

You can imagine it as an invisible pattern or an invisible field of magnetism that surrounds every magnet. A magnetic field is always strongest nearest the magnet and weakens as the distance away from the magnet increases. Think of it like the smell that surrounds a rose. There is an invisible pattern of odor or perfume around the rose that you can smell but you can’t see. The farther you get from the rose the less smell there is.
