How many pools will I have to clean and how many lawns will I have to mow?

The guitar from our video costs $800. John is working two jobs to earn enough money to buy it. The first job is for a landscaping company earning $10.00 per lawn he mows. The second job is for a pool cleaning company earning $8.00 per pool cleaned. Write an inequality for this scenario.

Question

What inequality represents the above scenario?

Let x = the number of pools cleaned and y = the number of lawns mowed.

You know that you need to earn at least 800 dollars in order to buy the guitar. Also, that you earn $8 for each pool you clean and $10 for each lawn you mow.

So, the inequality would be 8x + 10y > 800.
