In a zoo, the emperor tamarin monkey troop eats a breakfast that consists of dried insects, mixed fruits, green beans, and edible flowers. He needs ⅛ cup of dried insects, ½ cup of mixed fruits, ¼ cup of green beans, and ⅛ cup of edible flowers.

Marcus, who spends his weekends working at the zoo, needs to prepare enough mixed fruits so that the monkey troop can have their breakfast for the entire week while he is not there to mix it.

The monkey troop has 13 members, and each member receives its own breakfast.

Marcus needs to figure out how many cups of mixed fruits the monkey troop will need for seven days.

Marcus could calculate the total amounts needed by using repeated addition, or he can use multiplication.

Since Marcus is working with fractions, it is necessary for him to understand how to operate with them. He needs to add, subtract, multiply and divide them.

In this lesson you will learn how to multiply and divide fractions so you can help Marcus more easily figure out how many cups of mixed fruits the monkey troop needs for seven days.
