At the beginning of the writing process, you might have considered
publishing to be just a simple step across the finish line.
However, in this lesson, you have learned that publishing is
actually a series of steps that involves careful consideration and
planning. While the internet has made submitting work easier and
faster for writers, it also requires that authors learn new ways
of publishing their work for readers' enjoyment.
Your task is to publish a piece of your writing, either in print
or in the virtual world. You can also publish your work by
speaking or performing in front of a larger audience. Consider
these ways in which you can publish your work, either alone or in
a group:
a class or school newsletter, newspaper, magazine, or
website
a community newsletter, newspaper, magazine, or website
a literary magazine or journal
a writing contest
a blog or personal website
a zine
a vlog or podcast
a live performance
Turn It In
After submitting your work for publication, turn in the following
items to your teacher:
A final copy of the manuscript you published—as a published
document, if possible, or accompanied by a link or audio/video
file
Your letter of inquiry or cover letter, or a description of
how and where you published your piece
Your work on this assignment will be graded using the rubric
