Can you find problems that would require you to use your knowledge of circles?

You've probably noticed already that there are many circles in our world, but you may not have thought about them in terms of chords, tangents, and secants. These concepts can be very helpful, though, in determining the size of a circle when it would be difficult to measure it. (It's not a good idea to climb into a large fish tank to find its width since you might find some dangerous, hungry fish as well.)

For this assignment, you will apply many of the skills you've learned in this lesson. You'll need to identify a circle to measure and figure out what rules or relationships can help you find the missing information.

Click the Activity button below to access a worksheet for recording what you find out there. When you are satisfied that you've done your best work, submit the completed sheet to your teacher.
