Today, we will review the steps for writing.
Plan: This is the step when you think about what you will write. Draft: This is the step when you get all of your ideas out and write your story for the first time. https://cms.accelerate-ed.com/s3/r/content/Elementary/docs/LanguageArts1/audio/ELA1_16.4_pg5_3_audio_2.mp3
Revise: This is the step when you go back through your story and add details to make it more interesting.
Edit: This is the step when you look for mistakes in your writing. You can fix capital letters, spelling mistakes, and punctuation mistakes. https://cms.accelerate-ed.com/s3/r/content/Elementary/docs/LanguageArts1/audio/ELA1_16.4_pg5_3_audio_3.mp3
Rewrite: This is the step you will work on today. Rewrite is the step when use your best handwriting, put spaces between your words, and include all of the corrections you made when you revised and edited.
Publish: This is the last step in writing. It is when you make your story complete. Sometimes you will be done publishing your story when you rewrite it. Other times you might want to add pictures to your story. https://cms.accelerate-ed.com/s3/r/content/Elementary/docs/LanguageArts1/audio/ELA1_16.4_pg5_3_audio_4.mp3
Today, you will work on the "Rewrite" step. It's pretty easy, because you have already done the hard work of writing down your story and making it as good as it can be! Now you just need to make it easy for someone else to read by using your best handwriting.
