audio button Earlier this week, we learned about story structure. Today, we are going to identify the story structure in this week's story, "Finding Agent Barkley."

audio button Setting

The setting of a story is where and when it takes place. Sometimes the author doesn't come right out and tell us where and when the story takes place. We need to use clues from the story to put the pieces together.

What was the setting of our story this week? Add it to the Setting section of your worksheet.

audio button Characters

The characters are the people or animals that the story is about. Who were the characters in our story? List them under Characters on your worksheet.

audio button Plot

The plot is the important events that happen in the story. We can separate the plot into the beginning, middle, and end of the story. The beginning sets up the problem in the story. Can you think of the problem in our story? Write it in the Beginning section of your worksheet.

What about the middle? What happens to our characters? Write a few details in the Middle section of your worksheet.

Finally, think about the end. How is the problem solved? How are the characters different than they were at the beginning of the story? Write your answer in the End section of your worksheet.

When you have finished your worksheet, please submit it to your teacher.
