Objectives

Students will:

  1. Identify the theme of a poem that explores the meaning of an experience.
  2. Determine the figurative and connotative meanings of words in a poem.
  3. Analyze the development of a theme over the course of a poem, including the impact of specific word choices.
  4. Write a poem that explores an experience or idea and, along the way, explores or experiments with language.
