You've read several poems about experiences that changed the way the poems' speakers saw their world. Some experiences were happy, even triumphant. Others were less successful or even sad. But all affected the speaker who looks back to talk about them. Now you will look back, too, at an experience and explore it in a poem.
Open a new word processing document that will contain this module's journal assignments. Paste the prompt below at the top of the document, and label the entry with this lesson's title. Then type a response to the prompt.
Write a poem that explores the meaning or significance of an experience from your past. Be sure to include plenty of imagery in your poem, and try to include some figurative language, too.
When you have written a complete and detailed answer to the journal prompt, save the file so that you can open it again for the next lesson with a journal assignment. (You will submit your journal to your teacher for grading once or twice during the module.)
