What are the main types of biomes?

A biome is a region characterized by its abiotic and biotic factors. Biomes can be classified as aquatic or terrestrial. The terrestrial biomes can be broken down into four main categories: forests, grasslands, deserts, and tundra. Each main type of biome can be split up into smaller categories by characteristics like precipitation and temperature.
