You know how to tell time by the hour and half-hour. You also know how to count by tens. It’s time to learn how to tell time by ten minutes!
Let’s practice counting by tens to warm up. Touch each number, and count out loud. Then, you’re ready to learn how to tell time by tens!
Let’s start with 12:00.
Each number on the clock is worth five minutes as the minute hand moves around the clock. So, if we skip the 1 and put the minute hand on the 2, we are counting by tens! This time shows 12:10.
Now, skip the 3 so the minute hand is on the 4. We moved from 12:10 to 12:20. The minutes are counting by 10s! Now the clock says 12:20.
Since you’re counting by tens, skip the 5, and put the minute hand on the 6. You know how to tell this time! Type it in the box under the clock and check your answer.
