Valencia is playing in the sand at the beach, when she notices something amazing. If she writes any addition problem in the sand, the answer washes up on the shore!

Let’s watch the answers come in on the tide, and see if you can keep up with the sea!

Valencia writes 14 + 4 in the sand. Can you figure out the answer?

Did you get 18? 14 + 4 = 18!

Now Valencia writes 11 + 8. What will the sea say?

Here comes the answer: 11 + 8 = 19! Did you get the same answer?

Valencia wants to know what 13 + 2 equals. What do you think the answer is?

Watch out for the next wave! The answer is 15. Awesome work!

Valencia writes 10 + 7 in the sand. What do you think the sea will say?

10 + 7 = 17. The waves got it right, did you?

The last addition problem Valencia writes is 13 + 4. Can you add these two numbers together?

13 + 4 = 17! That’s right.

The sea is proud of your work, and says, “Good job!”
