Goal: Identify and draw the six types of triangles.
Let’s use what we know about triangles to name and draw them. Draw and label in your notebook the kind of triangle listed on each tab. Then, click on the tab to see how you did.
A right triangle is a triangle with one right angle. Notice that the right angle is marked with the square corner.
An acute triangle is a triangle with three acute angles. The three marked angles are the acute angles.
An obtuse triangle has one obtuse angle. The angle that is marked is the angle that is greater than 90 degrees.
A scalene triangle has no sides that are the same length.
An isosceles triangle has two sides that are the same length. The sides that are the same length are marked with two straight lines.
An equilateral triangle has three sides that are the same length.
Now practice matching the description of the triangle on the left to the type of triangle on the right. Remember, triangles can be described by their type of angle or by the length of their sides.
