An urban area is a city. A rural area is a countryside.

Most people live near urban areas. Why?
Urban areas have more to offer a population of people. Cities have more businesses, houses, restaurants, shopping, and things to do.
Did you know that almost 50% of the population live near the ocean. Why do you think that is?
Many cities were built around ports, which provide opportunities for trade, jobs, and transportation. Living near water also gives people access to a variety of recreational activities, like boating, fishing, swimming, and surfing.

Work Opportunities | Cities offer more opportunities for people to get a job and make money. More work opportunities lead to a greater population. From Boston, Massachusetts, to San Jose, California, big cities offer a variety of job opportunities that bring many people to the area. |
