Paper folding has been a great way to learn about fractions. We'll continue to fold to form fractions.hen folding strips in half and fourths, we get strips of paper that look like this:

Notice how the strips line up. One half of the top strip is the same size as one half of the bottom strip. Counting the parts, two fourths measures the same length as one half. We can write them as equivalent fractions like this:

one half equals two fourths   or   one half equals two fourths
