The Seasons
What is one effect of Earth's tilted axis?

Seasons are the result of the yearly revolution of Earth around The Sun and the tilt of Earth's axis. In temperate and polar regions, the seasons are marked by changes in the amount of sunlight that reaches Earth's surface. These changes cause things such as animal migration and the blooming of plants.
During summer in the Northern Hemisphere, the top half of Earth is exposed to more sunlight because it faces the sun more directly. While the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing summer, the Southern Hemisphere is tilted away from The Sun and experiences winter because the bottom half of Earth receives less sunlight.
Locate your home on a globe. Discuss what you have learned today. What season are you experiencing where you live? Why is this? Looking at the globe again, where do you think the seasons would be completely different from your own? Why?
