What is the answer to this problem? 5 + 4 = Yes, 5 + 4 = 9. Now try adding a third number. 5 + 4 + 6 = You already know that 5 + 4 = 9. The next step is to add the third number, 6, to 9. What is 9 + 6? Yes, 15. You just solved the problem! 5 + 4 + 6 = 15 Look at the problem again, and see if there is another way to solve it. 5 + 4 + 6 = You could add 4 + 6 together first. What is 4 + 6? Correct, it is 10. Then you could add 10 + 5 to get the answer 15. There is one other way to solve this. 5 + 4 + 6 = If you knew that 5 + 6 = 11, you could add those two together first and then add the 4, which gives you 15. Look at that! |
