Election Day

It is time to jump in this time machine and go to the future.

It is your birthday and you just turned…18! Do you know what special right you now have?

Open your present from America to see what it is. That’s right! You now have the right to vote. You and every other American citizen 18 and older have the right to vote.

This is a very important right, so let’s learn more about voting, so you know what to do in the future.

First, you will need to register to vote, which you can do online.

Second, before Election Day, you will need to investigate the issues and learn about the candidates.

You can talk about issues and share ideas with others, too.

Be sure to listen to the debates between candidates to help you learn what each one stands for.

On Election Day, go to your local voting poll to vote.

Vote for the issues and the candidates that you believe in on your ballot.

Thank you for making your voice heard and participating in this important American right.

For now, it is time to go back in the time machine and return to fourth grade.

You will have to wait for your actual 18th birthday to vote, but learn all you can about our country and its government so you will be ready when the real time comes!
