Audio or Video?

The media you choose may depend on what you have to use.

Goal:

#1 Your Equipment

What tools do you have at home or school? Do you have access to a video camera? Do you have a slideshow program like PowerPoint on your computer?

#2 Your Skills

Do you know how to use a video camera? What about presentation or movie-making software? Is there someone who can help you learn these skills?

#3 Your Story

Would your story be easy to illustrate with photographs or drawings? Would it sound really good read aloud? Is there a lot of dialogue that real or animated characters could act out?

Question

Suppose you have a video camera at home but no presentation software on your computer--and your story has very little dialogue. What would be the best project for you to do, given those resources?

The best project would be one that involves reading parts of your story aloud while filming photographs, drawings, people or places that relate to your story.

Question

What if you have presentation software but no video camera, and your story has lots of dialogue?

A slideshow presentation would be a good way to go. You can insert your own images or find some from the web that look kind of like the characters in your story, then write each character's speech on a separate slide.
