Activity

  1. On a sunny morning, go outside with an adult, and find an area without buildings or trees.
  2. Locate the sun in the sky. (Be careful not to look directly at the sun!)
  3. Turn so your back is to the sun.
  4. Look for your shadow in front of you.
  5. Have the adult take a picture of your shadow and measure its length.
  6. In your notebook, record the time of day and the length of your shadow.
  7. Repeat these steps twice more--once at midday and once in late afternoon. Record the time and the length of your shadow each time.
