Let's take a little tour of our beautiful country.

We will begin in California.
This is the Golden Gate Bridge. It is man-made. This means humans made it.
It was not there before humans built it.
These are the famous Redwood trees. Wow! Those trees are so tall! This forest is natural. This means these trees grew naturally. Humans did not build the trees. Let's go to South Dakota and see if you can figure out which landmark is man-made and which is natural.
The first picture is Mount Rushmore. The second is a picture of the Badlands. Which one do you think is manmade and which one do you think is natural? In other words, which one did humans build and which happened naturally?
Mount Rushmore is man-made. Dynamite was used to carve the presidents' faces in the mountain. Humans did this so it is called man-made.
The Badlands of South Dakota are natural. The Badlands were formed by wind and water over time. Humans did not build these, nature did. |
You are doing great! Click on the arrow to learn more about man-made versus natural.
