Go on a walk in the neighborhood and have your student identify things that are man-made and things that come from nature. As they look for things discuss how some of the man-made things effect and change the natural environment. Ask them to identify things in the home that are man-made and that are natural (hint: the kitchen is a good place to focus on for this one). Have them write a list of the man-made and natural things they find in their Social Studies notebook.
