Texas is also home to some unique architecture. One example is the Texas Capitol Building in Austin.
Learn more about the architecture of Texas. You already know about the Spanish missions established in Texas, but did you know that in addition to influencing culture and religion, the Spanish missions also influenced architecture? Watch this video to learn more about mission architecture.
Starting from north to south, Mission Concepcion, again, founded in 1731. The church there-- all that's left there is mainly the church and the convento. But the church itself is a national historic landmark. It's been unrestored, largely. It's one of the largest unrestored stone churches in the United States.
So the architectural integrity there is fantastic. There are still originals frescoes-- [? fresco ?] painting from the 1750s that are still intact there. It's a wonderful place to really get a great appreciation and seeing the influence of European architecture and architectural styles imposed here in the United States.
It's got wonderful examples of Moorish architecture with details of Romanesque architecture and some Baroque architecture. So it's really, a neat, a wonderful structure that exhibits lots of European and Moorish influences here in the United States.

Start with mission architecture. There are missions all over Texas. Here is a picture of the Alamo in San Antonio. See if you recognize the various mission features you just learned about in the video.
Dallas City Hall is an angled building with huge oval columns and inverted pyramids of concrete and glass.
Another famous building in Texas is the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. It has five vaulted galleries with natural light.
Also in Forth Worth is the Modern Art Museum of Forth Worth. It was designed by a Japanese architect.
