Today we will take a mini-look at the history of North America.

Who are some important people in North American history? The Aztec civilization. The Aztecs lived in what is now Central Mexico in the 14th, 15th, and 15th centuries. Aztecs believed in many gods. Masks like these were used in rituals and for decoration. Tenochtitlán was the capital of the great Aztec empire and located in what is now Mexico City. In 1519, about 400,000 Aztecs lived in this area. However, the arrival of the Spanish would ruin the great Aztec civilization. Explorer Hernán Cortés conquered the Aztecs and claimed their lands and wealth for Spain.
