There are three dimensional force vectors as well.

Boy Swimming We have talked about both one dimensional and two dimensional force vectors.  In the real world, there are many situations where there are three-dimensional force vectors.  We won't be illustrating them, but let's think of some

Think of a swimmer trying to swim across a river.  There is the force of gravity trying to pull the swimmer down, the buoyancy of the water supporting the swimmer, the swimmer pushing the water back as he makes forward progress across the river, and the force of the current trying to push the swimmer downstream.  Have you ever flown in an airplane and felt turbulence in the air?  Think of all the forces that are acting on the plane, and all the different directions they come from!!!
