Practice calculating acceleration.

Use the equations for Newton's Second Law to answer the following problems.

Newton's Second Law

Force = Mass × Accelertation
or
Acceleration = Force ÷ Mass

Challenge 1

Your car has a mass of 2,000 kg. If your car produces a force of 5,000 N, how fast will it accelerate?

Acceleration = 2.5 meters per second squared

Challenge 2

Sally has a car that accelerates at 5 meters per second squared. If the car has a mass of 1,000 kg, how much force can the car produce?

Force = 5,000 N
