Verbs and Prepositions
Like the expression jouer à, the regular -er verb telephoner (to call, to telephone) is followed by the preposition à. Look closely at the examples below and listen to the audio. Try saying each sentence out loud.
Je téléphone à ma mère tous les jours.
Marc et Julie téléphonent aux professeurs
Moulin et Manou.
Nous téléphonons au cinéma.
Notice that any time you have à + le or les, you will make the same contractions you learned about previously with jouer à.
