Volume is an extensive property. There are two types of physical properties. Extensive properties are physical properties that are dependent of the amount of matter present. Mass, length, and volume are examples of extensive properties. Intensive properties are independent of the amount of matter present. Density is an example of an intensive property. Remember that density is the mass per unit volume of a substance.
