Physical science began when people looked around and observed that there were certain consistencies.

Seasons This began well before recorded history. People saw regularities, such as the sunrise and sunset, seasons of the year, and the movement of stars in the sky. Once they started paying attention to these observations, people began to accurately predict some of the events in their lives. They learned to plan for the seasons - for rain, snow and hot spells. They watched for the signs they had learned would indicate these things were about to happen. They began to see relationships in nature. They started to have a very primitive understanding of them. This understanding gave people a greater feeling of control over their lives.

Roughly 2,500 years ago, two Greeks, Aristotle and (a hundred years later) Archimedes, made discoveries because they were curious about why certain things in their world behaved as they did.
