Goal: Watch this video and practice how to decompose a rectangular shape to find the total area and cost.
As the construction continues at the airport, we need to find the cost and area of the different departments to determine the best placement. Let’s work together to find the cost of the food court adding a salad restaurant!
Question
If the builders decide to upgrade the display and register sections to higher quality materials that cost $12 per square meter, how much will those two sections cost?
A large area. The first area is labelled storage its top length is measures 4 meters. half of its width is 2 meters. The second section is labelled counter top. Its length is 10 meters and width is 2 meters. The third section is labelled register is width is 6 meters and legth is not labelled. The fourth section is labelled display and has a width of 2 meters its length is not labelled. There is a fifth section in the middle that is unmarked but is 10 meters in lenght and is half the width of the storage.
$408!
\({14 \text{ meters} \times 2 \text{ meters} = 28 \text{ meters}^2}\)
\({6 \text{ meters} \times 1\text{ meters} = 6\;m^2}\)
\({28 \text{ meters}^2 + 6 \text{ meters}^2 = 34 \text{ meters}^2 \times $12 = $408}\)
