Introduction
How do you calculate volume without counting cubes?

Rectangular prisms can be used to find the volume of an object. So far, you have worked with relatively small rectangular prisms that are made up of a few cubes to find volume. Now, what if the rectangular prisms are made up of hundreds of cubes? Are you really expected to count all of them? At this point, you must be thinking that there has to be an easier way to find the volume of an object other than counting cubes.
You will be happy to know that there is a formula you can use that will make it much easier to calculate the volume of larger spaces.
Think about all you have learned on the topic of volume. What do you think the formula for volume is? Consider what dimensions are used when finding volume and what math operation might help.
Take a moment to find the volume of the following figure.
