The United States of America has so many landmarks to see! What landmarks are in your state? What
do visitors to your state want to see? Where do they want to go? Look at the slides below for

The San Jacinto Monument and the Johnson Space Center are both must-see landmarks
in Texas.
There are many famous places to visit in Pennsylvania. You can see the Liberty
Bell, which is a special American symbol of freedom. You can also visit Betsy
Ross's house. Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag.
When visitors travel to California, many go to Disneyland. Others like to take
pictures in front of the popular Hollywood sign. Many tourists go to the
Hollywood Walk of Fame to see famous people's names.

Kansas has beautiful fields of flowers. The most popular fields are with

Kentucky has the Kentucky Derby. This is where people race horses to win
prizes!
Louisiana has fun festivals. One is called Mardi Gras and people dress
up in costumes!
Maine has a very rocky coast by the ocean. Fishing is very popular
there!
Maryland has a sailboat. It has many sailing locations!
Massachusetts has many old boats in its history. It is known for
shipbuilding!
Michigan has many car factories. It is nicknamed “Motor City!”
Minnesota has many boat owners. The most popular one is the canoe!
Mississippi has the Mississippi River. It is known for its steamboats!
Missouri has the tallest manmade national monument. It is called the
Gateway Arch!
Montana has the Rocky Mountain region. It also has a large moose
population.
Nebraska has many different landscapes. They have towering rock
formations!
Nevada has Las Vegas. People go there to have fun. It also has an area
called Area 51!
New Hampshire has a certain type of rock. It is called granite!
New Jersey has an inventor who lived in the state, Thomas Edison. He
created the light bulb!
New Mexico has big horn sheep, cattle, and is home to many Native
Americans!
New York has the Statue of Liberty and Niagara Falls. It has many
tourist attractions!
North Carolina has many airplanes. It has the first flight to leave the
ground!
North Dakota has a lot of trees. Most of its landscapes are made of
state forests!
Ohio has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You can visit there and see all
the rock music legends!
Oklahoma has very fun looking rocks. The state rock is called barite
rose!
Oregon has many national parks. The most popular one is called Crater
Lake National Park!
Pennsylvania has the Liberty Bell. It was rung for special announcements
and events!
Rhode Island has many light houses. Most of the state is along the
Atlantic Ocean!
South Carolina has many historical buildings. The State House is a
walk-through South Carolina history!
South Dakota has the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. It has previous
presidents faces on it!
Tennessee has the Blue Ridge Mountains. The mountains are covered in
trees!
Texas has longhorn cattle. They have big horns!
Utah has many beautiful rock formations. The rocks form arches, bridges,
and canyons!
Vermont has many cows. It is home to many farms!
Virginia has many history buildings. The building with the red roof is
called Washington’s Red Roof!
Washington has many mountain ranges. It is one of the most mountainous
state in the country!
West Virginia has many rolling mountains, hills, and valleys. It has the
nickname, “The Mountain State!”
Wisconsin has the American Badger. Badges are short-legged type of
weasel. They are great diggers!
Wyoming has the Yellowstone National Park. It is the world’s first and
oldest national park!
When you're on a road trip or walking through a town, you may notice
sculptures or statues alongside the road, in a park, or next to you on the
sidewalk. You may notice buildings or structures that look really old or
unique. It can be fun to search for landmarks like these when you travel,
even on your morning route to school.
A landmark is an object or a feature of a landscape or town that has
importance or makes a place easily seen. Landmarks will often have a sign
with information explaining their importance.
Every state is unique in its own way. That is what makes the United States of America so special. No two states
are the same!
