Pascua Florida Day
Florida has a state day! The day is called Pascua Florida Day, and it is celebrated on April 2. The Spanish explorer, Juan Ponce de León, named Florida on the day he landed on it. He named it “La Florida” after Pascua Florida, the Feast of the Flowers, celebrated at that time in Spain. Now, people who live in Florida celebrate that day and remember the sighting and naming of their state! If you live in Florida, you can celebrate, too!
Nevada State Day
On the last Friday in October, students in Nevada get a day off from school, and some employees have a day off work. They are celebrating the anniversary of the day that Nevada was added to the union, which was October 31, 1864. If you live in Nevada, this is a celebration day for you!
Georgia State Day
Georgia celebrates the anniversary of the first day that colonists landed in Georgia, February 12, 1733. The day is celebrated with a parade. If you live in Georgia, how do you celebrate this day?
