Introduction

Can you make shapes on the coordinate plane?

Goal:

Hands pointing to an architect drawing of a building plan. You know that points (ordered pairs) can be graphed on a coordinate plane. However, points are not the only things that can be graphed. What if several points can be graphed on the same coordinate plane in Quadrant 1? Could figures be built using these points?

Think of a building plan that an architect draws. An architect uses the space on their paper to create a two-dimensional drawing of a building, a bridge, or some other structure. Similarly, you can use the coordinate system to create two-dimensional shapes.
