What are amphibians and reptiles?

Amphibians and reptiles are different kinds of animals. They each have characteristics that make them unique. Click on each picture to find out what makes amphibians and reptiles special.

Frogs are a type of amphibian. Amphibians live part of their life in water and part on land. When they first hatch, they breathe through gills. They grow lungs when they get older. Amphibians have moist skin too.

Turtles are a type of reptile. Reptiles hatch with working lungs. Many reptiles, like turtles, spend time in the water. Reptiles have scales and dry skin.
