Do all seeds look alike?

What are you still wondering about seeds? Kiara is wondering many things as she goes to the garden store with her family. Let’s see what she learns about plants and seeds in this video.
Kiara is at the local garden store with her family. They are buying some plants for their
yard.
While her parents shop, Kiara wonders about how plants grow. She remembers something
about seeds, but she’s not sure how a tiny seed can grow into a big tree.
To learn more, she asks the gardener.
She’s in luck. The gardener has a video to show her.
Small seeds get planted in the ground. When the temperature, water, and oxygen are just
right, a seed begins to germinate.
The roots begin to grow down into the soil, and the stem and leaves begin to grow up out
of
the soil.
With the right amount of water, sunlight, and nutrients, a tiny seed can grow into a
giant
tree.
Kiara knows that there are lots of different kinds of plants but wonders if all plants
grow the
same way.
What should Kiara do to find out more?
What would a scientist do?
That gives Kiara an idea!
Back at home, Kiara lays out all of her supplies.
What do you think she is going to do?
She carefully places soil into the box. She puts different kinds of seeds into two rows
and
labels them carefully.
About one week later, the seeds in some parts of the box begin to germinate.
About three weeks later, all the plants have germinated and are starting to grow into
different sizes and shapes.
Kiara’s conclusion is that different seeds grow different plants, but they all germinate
from
seeds
