David’s Adventure

David loves adventures! Today David is travelling on a big ship to go back in time. He is going to learn about what famous explorers brought back from their long journeys.

David and the ship’s crew have been traveling for many months, and today they will arrive back at their home port. The explorers are all excited and can’t wait to see their families again!

As the ship sails up the harbor, people line up to welcome them home. The townspeople are eager to see what the sailors have brought back from their adventures around the world.

The crowd grows as the ship stops and the goods are unloaded by the explorers. People strain to see the new and unusual items the explorers have brought back.

Ladies cheer as they see brightly colored cloth—a gift that can be made into a new dress or a fashionable hat. They ooh and ahh at necklaces made from shells and at sweet spices that are unloaded from the ship—perfect gifts for their homes. Many begin to buy and barter or trade for the different gifts.

Men shout for joy at the sight of new tools from foreign lands. The explorers show them a spear. Many ideas are exchanged as the men crowd around, listening to the explorers as they tell them how people in faraway lands used the spear to hunt for food.

Children crowd around David as he shows them a bird from faraway lands, called a parrot. He also shows them a cotton ball, used to make fine cloth.

Soon, the new supplies are all gone. The townspeople, full of excitement, leave the dock with the gifts they have purchased. They are excited about their treasures.

David and the explorers can’t wait for the next adventure where they will once again collect treasures to bring back to their community!
