Logan is going on a pirate ship adventure to find missing treasure! He needs to figure out how much time it will take to get from island to island.

Logan is going to estimate how long it will take to get to each island, where he will find clues.

Logan pulls out his treasure map and looks for his first stop. Logan estimates it will take about 30 minutes to get to the first island.

Can you help Logan figure out how long it actually takes to get to the first island?

Logan started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 9:15. What is the elapsed time between 8:30 and 9:15?

Remember, elapsed time is the time that passes from the start of an activity until the end.

We need to find how much time passed for Logan to get to the island.

We start at 8:30 and count by fives to get to the end time of 9:15. Let's start counting by fives! 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35,40, 45.

It took Logan 45 minutes to get to the island. Was Logan's estimate of 30 minutes reasonable? He estimated that it would take 15 minutes less than it actually took. So, yes, his estimate was reasonable!

Now that he's on the first island, he needs to check for clues to locate the missing treasure!
