Action: Hopping and jumping are very similar. Both are a way to propel the body into the air. Jumping for distance is when you try to jump as far as you can.

Technique:

  • Stand with your heels slightly off the ground.
  • Swing your arms back behind your and bend your knees.
  • Throw your arms forward and use your legs to push yourself into the air.
  • For a smaller jump, you can just use your legs to push your body into the air.

Skill Activities:

  • Measure how far you can jump.
  • Have a jumping contest with a friend.
  • Jump with one foot. Switch feet.
