Technique: Hold the ends of the rope in each hand on each side of the body. Start with the rope touching the ground behind your feet. Spin the rope up over your head and around your body. Jump the rope a few times with a regular forward swing. As the rope swings over your head and in front of your body, cross your arms. Jump over the rope as it hits the ground in front of you. Continue to jump with your arms crossed, or uncross your arms as the rope swings in front of you again.
Different jumps you can try with your jump rope: Switch back and forth between regular jumps and crisscross jumps. Count how many times in a row you can jump the rope while crisscrossed. Have a contest with a friend. Try jumping the rope while you turn it as fast as you can.
