Learning about science is so much fun. Let’s review some of the things you learned this year. Click through the slides to begin.

This chart shows how a turtle grows in a circle, called a life cycle. 1. Adult Turtle: It starts with a large, dark green turtle with yellow spots on its shell and neck laying eggs. 2. Eggs: A red arrow points to three smooth, white oval eggs. 3. Hatching: The next arrow shows a tiny turtle poking its head out of a cracked eggshell. 4. Young Turtle: Finally, the baby turtle is out of its shell and crawling. An arrow leads back to the adult turtle to show the cycle starts over.

Animal Life Cycles

Just like humans begin as babies and grow throughout their lives, animals do too. Different animals have different life cycles. This is a picture of a turtle life cycle. A turtle goes through the stages of egg, hatchling, juvenile, and adult.

This diagram shows how a sunflower grows in six steps. It starts at the top with three small, striped seeds. A blue arrow points to a single seed with a tiny root growing out of it. Next, a small green sprout with two leaves pokes out of the brown soil. The plant grows taller with many green leaves and deep roots, then forms a tight green bud. Finally, it blooms into a tall, bright yellow sunflower with a brown center.

Plant Life Cycles

Plants have life cycles just like animals. Most plants begin their life as seeds and grow into plants with leaves, stems, and roots. Some plants have flowers and fruit, too.

Pollinators

Without pollen, we would not have food. Pollination is when pollen moves from one plant to another. Pollen gets moved in many ways. Bees, birds, butterflies, bats, and even the wind moves pollen from one plant to another.

States of Matter

Matter can be a gas like air, a liquid like water, or a solid like a toy. These are called states of matter. What do you see or experience that is a solid, liquid, or gas?

Forces and Motion

A force is a push or pull that makes something move. Motion is something moving or being moved. How can you move your body and the things around you?

This chart shows six ways to make hard work easier using tools. • Pulley: A person uses a rope and a wheel to lift a heavy red weight. • Lever: A person uses a long stick to push down and lift up a large rock. • Wheel and Axle: A person rides a bicycle with round wheels that turn to move. • Wedge: A person uses a sharp axe to split a piece of wood apart. • Inclined Plane: A person pushes a wheelbarrow up a slanted ramp. • Screw: A person turns a tool to twist a metal screw down into the ground.

Simple machines are used to help make moving things easier. There are six different simple machines.
